HAPPY PLUCKY NEW YEAR!! Yes! 2018 is now only a few hours away. And I've never been busier; putting the final (ish) touches in place to my gigs, and finally begin marketing this One Man Band. New Website ThePluckyHaggis.com, New Videos, New Backdrop, Lights & Effects.

NEW LOOK HAGGIS had a first outing at a Wild West Themed Private Party in The New Forest in Sept. so now it's all about this New Year - New Plucky! Gig hardened, not just ready; up for it! Yes, there really is a difference! :)

I shan't bore you with the difficulties to reach this point, because the future really excites me, & hope you're optimistic! It's OUR future, and the world about us, that truly helps give our lives some perspective. Life's full of hurdles; some so small we leap over, and others, we can only go around or through.

Three NEW videos show Plucky's not so 'final curtain show' in action: Happy Birthday - An Acrostic Toast (on Facebook), for my Niece's birthday; Uncle Plucks (via YouTube), for my Nephew's birthday; and Christmas Time - Al' An' Om' (via YouTube). All with captions/subtitles, the latter two on the website shot in HD.

Festival gigs this quarter were fabulous, garnering best compliments to date.. that rewarding feeling that these past six years (come Mar/May '18), now almost palpable; for performer & hopefully audience alike! IT IS this 'special something symbiosis', that truly produces 'the magic'!

New Covers: American Pie & Castles in the Air by 'the master' Don McLean, Kathy's Song by S&G, and The Close Shave by Andy Irvine.

So here we are.. a Full Show booked at the end of Jan. A weekday short gig 2nd week of March. A wedding gig - (pre-reception) early Jul. AND a Christmas booking in Dec 2018. NB. I fully expect to be booked for St. Patrick's Day c. £250 for a full show.. don't be shy, first come first served ;)

Hell yeah, the 1st of several stage LIGHTS the ADJ HEX 5P has already seen action! I now have 2 T-Bar goal-post stands, a NEW ZOOM Q2n Video CAMERA incl. accessory pack, bad-ass micro disk & power. So the YouTube vids 'R' coming... ACTION - WTS!

23Jun HOSTED my first BeerFest: The Swan - Northall (nr. Dunstable) had 16 outstanding acts incl. The Plucky Haggis over 8 hours, with a few quips from Billy Clean-Wellie :)

JUNE – Plucky's 1st time BUSKING in Aberdeen – Birthplace o' The Haggis! Weird, Exciting, Fun & Very worthwhile – who said Aberdonians were tight! :D At Aberdeen’s Musa Open Mic, I was delighted to hear m' mither state confidently & proudly, how much I'd improved; mind you, it had been nearly 2 yrs since she heard me! :)

29May - Celebrated 5 yrs Public Performance so Supporting FolkLaw on their last European Tour Date; 26May, due to their support having to pull-out, was the PERFECT way to mark this occasion, & another FIRST! Followed by a super 2hr Pub Gig @ The Red Lion, Bierton Alyesbury Sat 27May.

A Quarterly Update of Firsts Last night 30Apr2017 - I finally popped my cherry, playing & singing with a Full Back-line: Lead Guitar, Keys, Base, Drums and yours truly on Acoustic Rhythm and vocals.. seemingly it wasn't too bad. Take it Easy - The Eagles; Joleen - Dolly Parton; Counting Stars - One Republic. I've much to learn if I'm to get my own band going 'Folksy Sick Haggis', though I suspect fellow band-members may just prefer it to be called 'Plucky Haggis'.

Friday 28Apr2017 - Plucky's 1st PAID booking for 2018 Another 'Private Birthday Party', followed a successful audition in March for The Woman's Institute - Buckinghamshire. Where, I'm soon registered for 2 years as an official Speaker/Entertainer. Weird to be booked 11 months in advance mind! Look out Northants, Beds & Herts!

Thursday 27Apr2017 - Guest Host at The Sunset Lounge weekly Open Mic at The Cannon Inn, Newport Pagnell. Really exciting for me, having first performed here; 31May2012, playing my own 3 songs. So I opened-up with 3 more of mine; I Hydeleigh, Crocodile Rap-Style & Sunset Friends. I had hosted a couple of other events last year, but this was my first Open Mic. Lovely turnout too, it's always very well supported by musicians and supportive audience alike.

c. 15Apr2012 I wrote my first song as TPH; 'Hurts to say Goodbye'. Five years on: I've written 23. #21 Feb. my best ballad to-date; 'All At Sea - Rescue Me! #22 Mar. my 1st Rap; Crocodile Rap-Style, #23 Apr. my 1st Reggae; Haggis Reggae :) May.. #24 aught to be 'Plucky Blues', but I'm just too happy to write it!

April 1st - Fools' Day - I announced my NEW alter ego Billy">Clean-Wellie BCW is a comedy driven act, using Connolly-esque observational anecdotes & funny stories. Almost anything sounds funnier with a Glaswegian lilt, but looking more like him recently, sure grabs attention! My act will often be accompanied with select amusingly light, sing-along songs chosen from TPH's 115+ repertoire; including The Wellie-boot Song by BC of course ;)

March 1st - I Celebrated my Five Year Anniversary of picking-up Guitar It will be THREE years since I quit my job at the end of MAY to do this Professionally; marking my FIRST Public Performance as The Plucky Haggis 29May2012! I should be doing a gig to celebrate this - but I do tend to procrastinate!

Feb/Mar/Apr also saw me filming down in Pinewood Studios as a Support Artist That's 'an Extra' to you & me! It's all very hush-hush due to lifetime NDAs, so I can't say anything about the film, but after 17 days - I really hope something makes it into the final cut. Hopefully you'll recognise me! Met fantastic people who do this for a living & yes, I'd be tempted to do more. Great insight to the industry, improved musical performance, and financial balance! ;)

Five Hour Set Christmas Eve @ Intu MK 'Royal Oak Court' nr. Debenhams - Milton Keynes Shopping Centre

YES! Public Liability Insurance (PLI) for £20M c/o AMPBand, Risk Assessment, and Method Statement in place, I was authorised as a Contractor (busker) for two days leading up to Christmas Day. Officially their first Independent Artist to play there. And played at least 75 of my 100+ repertoire during the 5 hours; repeating 3 Christmas songs every half-hour: Fairytale of New York; One More Christmas Beer, mashed with Jingle Bells; AND.. yet another first - Christmas Time - Al' an' Om' by yours truly The Plucky Haggis. 'Twas unquestionably THE high-point of 2016!

2017 is already showing a lot of promise... leading sing-along in a nearby hostelry New Year's Eve/Day, then invited to perform a Showcase Set for up & coming local Singer/Songwriters in MK Gallery, mid January. I was hugely delighted with my own performance, reinforced by lavish praise from fellow peers and visiting audience members. Here of course, I played my own material, concluding with one requested cover 'Counting Stars'. Super venue with well engineered sound (Simon)!

There's been many smaller performances, either side of these that carry fond memories... but mainly, I've been keen to spend more time polishing my repertoire in preparedness for this year's busy activities. Officially declaring myself OPEN for BUSINESS - GIGS! If only I could better sell my own worthy wears to those wishing to book performers. Work in progress. And the NEXT level on this fabulous journey! Hope to see you along the way ;)
