Vintage [Rock & Roll, 3 piece]
Pitstop Rock & Roll Club, Bedworth
2 Feb 2017Pitstop Rock & Roll Club, Bedworth
So last night was Manchester, five hours there, five hours back - we got in at 05:30 just in time for me to go to work :-( But i was buzzing as the night before had been a blast, so what could we hope for tonight...? Well another three hours in the van for a start, another three hours with Bill as James and Hayley are still hanging on and another new venue for Vintage...! We are now at the Pitstop Rock & Roll Club in Bedworth.Get ready Pitstop, you are in for a treat... last night was good, we thought tonight was brilliant. Ross and I couldn't believe what a difference a day makes - Bill was now hitting the harmonies and playing guitar like he'd been with us for years. This has to go down as one of our favourite gigs - and the best without it being the three of us. Again, the people in the crowd were given an absolute treat - we don't often big ourselves up but this gig deserved it. We all came off stage buzzing, it was an amazing night and we can only hope everyone there enjoyed it as much as we did. It must have been good as we are already booked back there for next year - but who to take...? Bill or James... :-)Thanks to everyone who came along!Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 21st January 2017 at Alakazam R'n'R Club, Leighton Buzzard - details on Lemonrock at:https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=484930Matt
Crepes 'n' Drapes, Urmston
2 Feb 2017Crepes 'n' Drapes, Urmston
So this was the start for 2017 and we were one man down :-) James could not make the journey as his little boy was due any day now and he just couldn't take the risk of being 200 miles from home at a brand new venue for Vintage - Crepes 'n' Drapes in Urmston, Manchester. So we have to find a dep guitarist and how lucky we were to find that Bill Crittenden (famed for his roles in The Kingcats, The Roosters, The Sweet Georgia Boys, etc) was available and happy to join us. I think we were all nervous as you just b]never know how things are going to hang together when you mix a couple of us with one from somewhere else (and with someone so well know for his original sound) but, as always, why did we worry at all - it was a fantastic night. And as much as you would know that something wasn't quite right (if you were an ardent Vintage follower) i don't think you would have had any complaints about the sound, in fact there were so many compliments that we obviously pulled it off on the night :-)We really can't thank Bill enough - his first venture with us started with the five hour drive, some 'getting to know you' conversations and then a gig that could of gone either way. I'm so glad to say that the journey home was still five hours but now with some new friends, no awkward silences and a great friendship gained. Thanks to all of you who came to see us - sorry to James, but it will all be worth it :-) And we are doing it all again tomorrow night - in Coventry...!Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 14th January 2017 at Pitstop Rock & Roll Club, Bedworth - details on Lemonrock at:https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=485201Matt
Hersham Sports & Social Club, Walton-on-Thames
10 Jan 2017Hersham Sports & Social Club, Walton-on-Thames
Sometimes things go so well you are just waiting for the wheels to fall off but not tonight - Val and Gary (with some fantastic helpers) set the scene for what can only be described as the top event of the year - if you weren't at Hersham Sports & Social Club in Walton-on-Thames then you missed a phenomenally brilliant evening. From the moment the doors opened you were treated to a venue that had been laid out to ensure a good time was had. Anthony blasted out some amazing tunes before, in between and to finish our time on stage.Three sets that had no real boundaries seemed to move the evening along to an amazing crescendo at midnight with an amazing countdown, Big Ben chimes, Aulde Lang Syne and general well wishing that culminated some time later with us playing through to half past midnight and Anthony taking us through to closing sometime around 01:00 - to say the night was brilliant is soooo much of an understatement. If you were there then you know, if you weren't there then order your tickets for this year now - you won't regret it :-)Michelle Robinson, thank you for your generous support in 2016 you made it so much better by being part of it.Thanks also must go to all our supporters, you all make our time on stage so much fun, we all hope that 2017 brings at least as many fantastic nights and we can wax lyrical about another amazing year in twelve months time. We will always be in your debt and hope we can remain one of your favorites... :-)Thanks to everyone who came along!Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Friday 13th January 2017 at Crepes 'n' Drapes, Urmston - details on Lemonrock at:https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=471860Matt
Marriott Hotel, Huntingdon
10 Jan 2017Marriott Hotel, Huntingdon
Another great event put on by Holiday Rock - we can't thank you enough for inviting us to play. We had an amazing time and to get the biggest cheer at the end of the night meant a very special time was had at the Marriott Hotel in Huntingdon - life is good...!We can only hope that everyone else had as much fun as we did - the dance floor was full from start to finish which is always a great indicator that you are having a great time as well :-) Thanks to John and Mark for asking us along and closing the three day event by supporting the Firebirds was a dream. We have to thank Jim and Danny for letting us use their PA and setting the sound (maybe not as much reverb on the vocals next time ;-) ) we like the 'not setting the whole rig up' thing, something we could get used to... :-)We're looking forward to the next three day event with all of you, until then - have fun and keep rocking. Thanks to everyone who came along!Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 31st December 2016 at Hersham Sports & Social Club, Walton-on-Thames - details on Lemonrock at:https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=484034Matt
