We are very proud of our pub and the warm welcome we give to everyone of our visitors. The Windwhistle Inn is the perfect pub to enjoy a drink, meal or catch up with friends in an historic and a very picturesque setting. Ideally placed just off the A30 it's a great place to stop and take a break, sit back and relax."Windwhistle" does evoke a clifftop location, but is the name of the local hills. Being on the brow of a range of hills, it does have a majestically panoramic view on a clear day and you can see all the way to Glastonbury Tor & the Bristol Channel! Our facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/thewindwhistleinn/We serve modern pub classics with the emphasis on good quality locally sourced produce. We are on the A30 so don't follow your sat-nav, stay on the A30 and you can't miss us!Our pub is situated on the A30 in the famous Estate of Cricket St Thomas used by the BBC when filming the TV programme To The Manor Born in between Chard & Crewkerne. This makes it very easily accessible and an ideal place to stop whilst visiting the many local sites of interest near by.A TASTE OF THE WEST COUNTRYWe take great pride in the quality and presentation of our food. We serve modern pub classics with the emphasis on good quality locally sourced produce.Specials are available in addition to the menu every day and our ever popular Carvery is served through-out the day on a Sunday.Where possible all ingredients are sourced locally and we delight in being able to offer the freshest of seasonal produce, some of which we pick from our very own garden. We serve a range of ales from the St Austell brewery from Cornwall, alongside cask ales and other draught beers from further afield. Why not try the the award winning St Austell Tribute with a wonderful light, hoppy, zesty and clean finish? We serve up a fine range of hand-picked wines and unexpected spirits too. Why not try a G&T made with Tarquin’s handcrafted Cornish gin?Whatever you choose, you can be sure of a genuine welcome from one of team.A BIT ABOUT THE WINDWHISTLE INNThe original building which houses the traditional bar dates from the 17th Century and was once a notorious haunt of smugglers, highwaymen, and cut-throats. It has a romantic ‘Jamaica Inn’ type atmosphere and local folklore has it that if you looked like you had money on you, you would be lured or dragged down into the cellar and your throat slit.Since then the building has been extended to now include a separate restaurant area for quiet dining, a large bright & airy conservatory where the famous carvery is served and a function room ideal for weddings and other large parties. All this is set in 5 acres of beautifully maintained gardens with plenty of outdoor seating and loads of space for children (and dogs) to run off their energy after lunch. Both indoor and outdoor games are available for everyone to enjoy. There is plenty of parking in our very large car park but you are also welcome to use our bike parking and our horse parking as an alternative! Walkers and dogs also very welcome.
